Man arrested on DWI suspicion after crashing vehicle into side of Circle K on NW Side, police say

  

SAN ANTONIO – A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after driving his vehicle into the side of a Circle K convenience store on the Northwest Side, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday in the 8300 block of Eckhert Road.

According to SAPD, the man attempted to turn from Eckhert Road, veered off the roadway, crossed into the convenience store’s parking lot and accelerated into the side of the building.

Police said it did not appear the man attempted to hit the brakes before the crash.

Authorities also said, at one point, the driver also hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

An officer at the scene told KSAT it appeared the man was drinking.

A cashier inside the convenience store was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Police later arrested the man on DWI suspicion, SAPD said, but charges have not been formally filed at this time.
