Ten people injured after shooting scare at Dallas cheer competition

Dallas Fire Rescue said that 10 people were transported to area hospitals after the 2025 NCA All-Star National Championship was evacuated.

DALLAS — Ten people were taken to the hospital after the NCA All-Star National Championship was evacuated from Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas, officials confirmed.

A fight among parents Saturday led to panic as numerous social media users expressed concern about a possible shooting at the convention center, WFAA previously reported . Dallas police sources told WFAA there were no shots fired and there was not an active shooter. No arrests have been made related to the incident, police sources told WFAA.

All ten people taken to a hospital were injured while evacuating the convention center, Dallas Fire Rescue said in a statement. None of the injuries were life-threatening and ranged in severity from bruising to fractures, the statement reads.

The competition resumed at 8 a.m. Sunday with “with athletes and our crowd in good spirits,” Varsity Brands, which runs the NCA cheer competition, told WFAA in a statement.

The NCA cheer event has drawn thousands of cheerleaders and their families to Downtown Dallas. Sunday morning, several families and athletes attending the competition elected not to return, according to several people attending the event.
