Killeen ISD middle school locked down following student injury on campus

   

The district says that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff and that law enforcement is investigating the incident.

KILLEEN, Texas — Roy J Smith Middle School in Killeen has been placed on lockdown after a student was injured on campus on Monday.

The district said in a statement around noon that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff and that law enforcement is investigating the incident.

A 6 News reporter will be at a presser being held by officials at Manna Church at some point Monday afternoon. The district is currently focused on getting students with their parents and guardians.

A message from Principal Fred Lilly to families reads as follows:

Smith Families,

We want to inform you of a situation that occurred on our campus this morning. A student was injured and is being transported to recieve medical care. Our school has been placed in a LOCKDOWN status. Student(s) will not be released during a LOCKDOWN.

At this time, there is no ongoing threat to students or staff, and law enforcement is actively investigating. We understand that this may be concerning, and we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority.

We will update you as soon as possible.
