The University of Houston system released the following statement:

“The University of Houston System has always been deeply committed to the success of our students and the communities we serve through our four universities. With the proposed transfer of the University of Houston-Victoria to the Texas A&M University System, we recognize that the academic programs offered by the TAMU System, specifically in the areas of agribusiness and agricultural economics, may be better aligned to support the Victoria region’s economic growth and local workforce needs.

As this process moves forward, we will continue to work closely with Senator Kolkhorst, state leaders, and Texas A&M University System leadership to ensure that UHV thrives and continues to serve its students and community effectively. Our priority remains what is best for our students and the state of Texas.”
