Lawrence told a Seattle reporter that he knew “for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl” in Dallas.
DALLAS — Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, who never shies from sharing his opinion on social media and his podcast, took issue with his former teammate DeMarcus Lawrence on Thursday night.
Then Lawrence dished it right back.
Lawrence, a longtime Cowboys star who signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency this week, told a Seattle website, Hawk Blogger, that he knew “for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl” in Dallas.
The video got circulated on X, and Parsons ultimately found it. The Cowboys star quote-tweeted it, saying “This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s—!”
Parsons capped the barb with a clown emoji for good measure.
His public pushback to Lawrence’s comments drew plenty of attention on its own — the Cowboys’ best player calling out a recent teammate, who also happened to be one of the best veterans on the team? Yeah, that’s a good recipe to get X riled up.
Then Lawrence responded to Parsons, replying to his post: “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”
OK, then.
So the vibes probably weren’t great in the Cowboys locker room last year, that’s no surprise. A 7-10 season with owner Jerry Jones under constant criticism (deservedly so, to an extent) and coach Mike McCarthy on the hot seat (which eventually caught fire).
But the beef between Lawrence and Parsons shows there might have been even more bubbling below the surface, or boiling over. If there’s one complaint about Parsons, it’s that he’s too vocal — or maybe just too online — obsessed with chiming in on X and his weekly podcast during the season. Maybe Lawrence’s jab was a sign that sentiment is felt inside the Cowboys locker room, too. Or maybe it was just a social media fight.
In any case, Lawrence certainly wasn’t pulling any punches, and we know Parsons rarely does.
Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant, who’s still mad at Jason Garrett for some reason, naturally gave his two cents on the matter, saying he understands Lawrence’s comments.
“I honestly don’t think D-Law dissed the boys..he’s coming from a perspective that most people wouldn’t understand,” Bryant posted on X. “Micah still has time and will eventually have another real shot at a Super Bowl whenever the boys get the right pieces to content. You have two people speaking from two different motives..”
