AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Southeastern Conference softball showdown is being shuffled around due to potential inclement weather.
Texas and Florida, ranked Nos. 2 and 3 in the latest ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 poll, will play a doubleheader Saturday and finish their 3-game series Monday. Storms forecast for the Gainesville, Florida, area Sunday caused the schools to adjust the games from the original Saturday-Monday one-game-per-day schedule.
Here’s the adjusted schedule for the series:
- Saturday, March 15
- No. 2 Texas at No. 3 Florida, 1 p.m. CT, SEC Network
- No. 2 Texas at No. 3 Florida, 45 minutes after Game 1, SEC Network+
- Monday, March 17
- No. 2 Texas at No. 3 Florida, 6 p.m., SEC Network
The Longhorns (26-1) have won 15 consecutive games, and the series against the Gators is the program’s first in the SEC.
The Texas baseball team also tweaked its schedule in Starkville against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, starting Friday’s game at 4 p.m. that Texas won 8-7. With storms heading to the area Saturday, the teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Sunday. The games will be seven innings.
