A timeline of this week’s rain chances

FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS

  • RAIN: Begins Wednesday evening, will come and go through Friday morning
  • RAIN: Not continuous, there will be breaks
  • AMOUNT: Current trends favor around 2″ in San Antonio (check back for updates)
  • WHAT TO EXPECT: Widespread rain, a few strong storms

FORECAST

A slow-moving storm system is taking aim at South Texas and it’ll be here by late tomorrow. In the meantime, Mother Nature is going to make you sweat.

FIRST SHOWERS START WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING

Most of Wednesday will be spent with thickening cloud cover. Any rain will hold off until the evening commute and especially thereafter. Expect highs near 80°, thanks to the added clouds.

RAINFALL TIMELINE

A couple of notes: It will NOT be raining all day Thursday. The nature of these type systems is for clusters of rain with embedded downpours and storms to move through, then lead to a break. Often times the atmosphere will get ‘worked over’ and needs a few hours to recover. But, we should see good lift over the area through Friday morning, keeping odds high of a decent rainfall.

HOW MUCH AND ANY CONCERNS FOR FLOODING/SEVERE WEATHER?

As of now, the heaviest rain is favored to be somewhere from San Antonio to the Gulf Coast. However, San Antonio and surrounding areas have increasing odds of getting around 2″, with isolated higher amounts. Basically, plan for a few inches, but hope for more. That’s accumulative over a 3-day period (Wed-Fri). Areas that experience pockets of heavy rainfall could see localized street flooding. Also, a few severe storms are possible Wednesday night and Thursday.
