The child was left at home asleep while she took her other children to school in the morning, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
JASPER COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas woman accused of abandoning her child was arrested Wednesday.
Erin Elizabeth Hebert, 28, of Vidor, was arrested after her 3-year-old child was found walking down the street Wednesday. The child was left at home asleep while Hebert took her other children to school in the morning, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
The JCSO said the child had woken up and was later found seen by a neighbor walking down the street. An arrest warrant was signed for Hebert, and she was booked into the Jasper County Jail on an abandonment/endangerment of a child with intent to return charge.
“Sheriff Chuck Havard and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County,” the sheriff’s office said.
