2nd man pleads guilty to shooting East Texas police officer

   

Alexander Rios was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A second person has pleaded guilty to shooting a Nacogdoches police officer in 2023.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, on Friday, March 28, Alexander Rios, 23, of Nacogdoches, pleaded guilty to the shooting of the officer that occurred December 29, 2023. 

“Rios also acknowledged his involvement in an unrelated aggravated robbery that took place on May 12, 2023, in the 2500 block of South Street,” the NPD said.

Rios was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

“This marks the second sentencing related to the officer’s shooting,” the NPD said. “We extend our gratitude to the Nacogdoches District Attorney’s Office for their dedicated efforts in preparing for this case.”
