A Man of Principle: Mark Cuban Busy Deleting All His Pro-Kamala Harris Tweets

One of the biggest losers in the presidential election—besides Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, of course—is businessman and part-owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban. In the final months of the election especially, Cuban became a fired-up cheerleader for Team Harris but made a bunch of ludicrous claims along the way. He didn’t lose all his money, but he lost most—if not all—of his credibility.

Libs of TikTok was the first to notice that he’s been busy scrubbing his record:

Wha…? Now why would he do that? Is he embarrassed by them? Is he humiliated by the fact that he made a fool out of himself by backing one of the worst candidates ever to run for president?

He has an answer: he routinely deletes tweets.

Ok, if true—but why? That seems like a weird thing to do. With today’s cloud computing, there’s no shortage of storage; there’s no reason to go back in time and free up space. There’s no “clutter” because it’s a continuing timeline, not a MySpace page. And it’s not like we can’t find them, as he points out—we can always track them down using the Wayback machine . But let’s be honest, not everybody’s familiar with that tool, and why would you make them go there to find your past pronouncements anyway?

I can’t think of any other reason than he wants to memory-hole his public humiliation.

A user inquired, why the heck would you go and nuke all your old commentary? His answer was lame:

Sounds to me like he’s saying, “Because I’m not sure I stand by what I said and don’t want to have to defend it.”

It was rough election season for Mark:

Cuban may have his excuses, but this is a bad—or to borrow a word from Tim Walz, “weird”—look, and to do it less than a week after the election makes him look even more suspect. He’s probably hoping people will quickly forget, and his reputation such as it was will be restored. He’s hoping wrong.

Perhaps my favorite of his reactions to the whole thing, though, is this:

“If Trump wins, last time when he won, he asked me to help on health care, on PPE [personal protective equipment], I sat with [ex-White House aide] Peter Navarro and helped him come up with a mask company and helped them grow. That was all domestic production. I’ll do the same thing. I’m America first,” Cuban said on CNBC.

Yes, Mr. Cuban. My advice to you is, curl up in a comfy chair and stare at your phone. I’m sure if you look at it long enough, it will ring, and it will be Trump calling, asking for your help.
