A North Texas woman called 911 on April Fools’ Day about squirrels entering her apartment. But it was no joke.

After safely rescuing and releasing the squirrel, an officer checking the rest of the apartment screamed from being startled.

WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — Officers from the White Settlement Police Department (WSPD) were called to a “wild” emergency call on April Fools’ Day … although the call was no joke. And it was all captured on camera.

A woman called 911 to report squirrels had entered her apartment. The White Settlement police officers got to the apartment and found one squirrel under a blanket in the master hallway. Officers safely rescued and relocated the squirrel outside near a tree, but that’s not where the story ends.

While checking the rest of the apartment, an officer was startled to find two more squirrels in the bathroom.

Officers then safely captured the other two squirrels and released them, as well.

“You never know what call you may end up responding to, however, we are thankful that we could assist in restoring peace to this woman’s apartment,” said White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook. “I personally spoke to the woman, and she wanted to express her sincere gratitude for our first responders who helped save the day and return these animals back the wild. It had a great ending where these three squirrels were returned to their natural habitat.”
