Several groups plan to stage a protest Sunday in Harwood Park, according to a press release.
DALLAS — Activists will protest President Trump’s deportation and diversity equity and inclusion policies Sunday at Harwood Park in Dallas.
The protest will be hosted by Next Generation Action Network, A nonprofit organization based in Dallas. It is one of the largest social justice organizations in North Texas, according to the organization’s website. The protest is in partnership with Dallas Brown Berets, Dallas County Democratic Party, NGAN Legal Advocacy Fund, and many other community organizations, the organization said in a press release.
The protest will take place around 2 p.m. Feb. 2 in Downtown Dallas’ Harwood Park, the release states.
Dallas police warned drivers of street closures that may be caused by the protest. Multiple roadways could be affected including Houston, Young and Main Street, police said.
Last week, on Saturday, Jan. 26, approximately 700 people gathered near the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge to protest President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, executive orders and threats of mass deportations, WFAA previously reported.
“We refuse to allow our communities to be targeted, dehumanized, and erased.,” Dominique Alexander, president of NGAN, said in a press release. “This is bigger than immigration—it’s about basic human rights, racial justice, and economic equity. We will not sit back while Black and Brown bodies are under attack.”
