SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Pets Alive! and BISSELL Pet Foundation are hosting a three-day adoption event that will allow people to adopt a pet for free.
San Antonio Pets Alive! is a last-chance rescue organization that takes in animals at risk for euthanasia at San Antonio’s Animal Care Services.
The adoption event takes place from Oct. 6 to Oct. 8 at all San Antonio Pets Alive! locations.
Pets up for adoption (Sa Pets Alive!)
Every cat and dog adopted from San Antonio Pets Alive! has received vaccinations, flea and tick prevention treatment, microchips, spay/ neuter surgery, and heartworm testing.
Adoptions are free for all cats and dogs seven months or older. Puppies and kittens six months or younger have reduced adoption fees.
San Antonio Pets Alive! has issued a “Code Red” several times throughout the season. In the last three days, 28 dogs were euthanized at the city shelter, according to SAPA.
“We hope this special encourages everyone to come out and adopt a pet,” said Stephanie Perez.
“Adopting a pet will help us empty the shelter and allow us to make more room for those cats and dogs at risk of euthanasia,” said Perez.
