AUSTIN (KXAN) — Coaching turnover on the West Coast benefitted the Texas Longhorns in the transfer portal.
Emmett Mosley V, a wide receiver at Stanford last season, is now part of the Longhorns pass-catching corps, according to the 247Sports transfer portal tracker. He was allowed to enter the transfer portal after head coach Troy Taylor was fired in March.
Mosley entered the portal April 3, and he announced his commitment to Texas on Monday.
Mosley caught 48 passes for 525 yards with six touchdowns for the Cardinal as a freshman last season. He has three years of eligibility remaining and 247Sports rates him as a 3-star transfer prospect.
The move comes as Longhorns sophomore wide receiver Freddie Dubose announced his plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens April 16. The New Braunfels native and Smithson Valley graduate arrived at Texas as a 3-star recruit as a member of the 2024 recruiting class. He didn’t play in his freshman season.
Junior DeAndre Moore Jr. and sophomore Ryan Wingo are the only receivers returning who caught a pass in a game last season, so Mosley could find some playing time, especially after a productive freshman season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He’ll have to make his impression felt in fall camp with only five spring practices remaining.
