BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M AgriLife is once again hosting a workshop to help create better drivers.
The Reality Education for Drivers (RED) is a free course provided by A&M AgriLife for people ages 15-25.
“What we do is we look at the five different high-risk factors, especially for young drivers, that includes impairments, distracted driving, drowsy driving, speeding, and not wearing your seat belts,” program specialist MaryJo Prince said.
The course is free courtesy of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and its primary goal is to steer young drivers toward safer driving habits and away from possible citations while on the road.
Prince said the course is primarily classroom work, but is interactive.
“My favorite teachers and professors were the ones that made us laugh and made us learn at the same time,” added Prince. “That’s a practice that I follow, so they will not be bored.”
Parents, new drivers, or soon-to-be drivers can email Prince or call (979) 321-5225 to get more information or to register. Classes will be held in August and September.
Drivers do not need to be referred by a judge or receive a citation to register for the class.
