CARLSBAD, Calif. — Texas A&M moved up two spots during the third round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, but it wasn’t enough to make the cut for Monday’s final round of stroke play.
The Aggies finished tied for 20th with Stanford. A&M shot 12-over 300 Sunday to finish at 41-over 905 (298-307-300). A&M missed Monday’s cut for the top 15 teams by 14 strokes. Tennessee and East Tennessee State tied for 14th at 27-over 891. Illinois leads at 2-under 862. The Illini are the only team under par. Virginia is six strokes back.
A&M’s Vishnu Sadagopan, who entered the lineup Sunday as an alternate in place of Aaron Pounds, shot even-par round at the par-72, 7,538-yard Omni La Costa Resort & Spa North Course. Pounds shot 21-over 165 (81-84) on the first two days.
A&M senior Daniel Rodrigues ended at 6-over 222 (74-71-77). Phichaksn Maichon ended at 10-over 226 (75-76-75), Michael Heidelbaugh shot 13-over 229 (76-77-76) and Jamie Montojo ended at 22-over 238 (73-83-82).

Maichon, Montojo and Rodrigues made the PING all-central region team with Maichon on the second team.
The top 15 teams will be whittled to eight after Monday’s final round for the match-play portion of the event. A&M made the Monday cut a year ago and finished 13th.
Vanderbilt is at 9-over for third place followed by Florida State at 10-over, Ohio State at 13-over, North Carolina and Auburn at 15-over, Florida at 20-over, Arizona and Georgia Tech at 21-over, Texas at 23-over, Baylor at 24-over, Oklahoma at 25-overa and Tennessee and East Tennessee State.
