A&M women’s track team has 11 more qualify for nationals

   

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Texas A&M women’s track & field team ended the NCAA West Regional at John McDonnell Field on a high note by qualifying 11 more for nationals.

The Aggie women having 11 qualify on Saturday paired with Heather Abadie, Lianna Davidson, Timara Chapman and Joniar Thomas’ from earlier in the week brings the total number to 15.

From Saturday’s first event, A&M was in for a successful day as Lamara Distin and Nissi Kabongo advanced to nationals in the high jump. It was one of two individual events that featured multiple Aggies qualifying as Semira Killebrew and Camryn Dickson did it later in the 100-meters.

The other Aggies heading to Eugene, Oregon, after Saturday include Abigail Martin (discus), the team of Killebrew, Dickson, Leeah Burr and Laila Hackett (4×100), Jaiya Covington (100 hurdles), Jermaisha Arnold (400), Kabongo (400 hurdles) and the team of Jaydan Wood, Dickson, Arnold and Kennedy Wade (4×400).

The Aggie women and men will conclude the 2024 season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 5-8.

The men wrapped up the NCAA West Regional on Friday with 11 qualifiers.
