A&M’s Perez, Khirin earn ITA Texas Region honors

   

Texas A&M’s Lucciana Perez was named Texas Region ITA Rookie of the Year, while teammate Nicole Khirin was recognized as the region’s ITA Player to Watch, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Wednesday.

Perez earned the award by finishing with an overall record of 37-8, going 22-7 in singles and 15-11 in doubles. She was named Southeastern Conference freshman of the year, earned All-SEC second team honors, All-SEC freshman team honors and was a member of the NCAA All-Tournament team in singles and doubles.

Khirin, the sophomore, was named as a player to watch for the upcoming season after posting a 28-7 record in singles and a 20-11 mark in doubles. The All-SEC first teamer was also on the NCAA All-Tournament team in singles and doubles.
