Announcements From Shannon Bream and Jim Clyburn Spell More Trouble for Biden

At this point, it looks like Democrats are imploding right and left, unsure of what to do because of Joe Biden’s cognitive issues and his refusal to step aside.

The Democrats who want him to get out of the race think he’s likely to lose badly. The Democrats who want him to stay in are afraid of the chaos that will result if he drops out and there’s a fight over what happens next. Either outcome is good for former President Donald Trump, but it all seems to be devolving into chaos for the Democrats.

But now it’s sounding like none of the people who have defended Biden staying in want to go on the record to talk about it. Our friends at our sister site Twitchy reported on what Fox’s Shannon Bream had to say as she talked about their effort to find someone — anyone — to defend Biden’s position.

Bream said they have spent “days” reaching out to “dozens of lawmakers, Biden advocates and allies,” but “not a single potential guest” was willing or able to come on to defend Joe Biden’s decision to stay on the ticket.

Yikes. Even the campaign and Biden allies? The wheels truly are coming off the bus if they can’t even get one person who wants to go on record. Maybe that’s ultimately good — maybe that means some of them have a conscience — but it’s probably just they don’t want to be held accountable when he loses. Badly.

On top that, we have this nugget from “Face the Nation” about Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) canceling his appearance.

Clyburn is one of Biden’s staunchest allies; he’s the guy who helped Biden get the nomination with his support in South Carolina in 2020. But even he has gone missing in the wind.

Indeed, earlier in the week, he said this about “if” Biden stepped aside.

Should Biden step aside, Clyburn said, he expects a “mini-primary” featuring Vice President Kamala Harris, governors and others in the run-up to the Democratic National Convention in August.

“You can actually fashion the process that’s already in place to make it a mini-primary and I would support that,” said Clyburn, who also spoke to Biden on Wednesday in a conversation his office refused to discuss.

If you’re really supporting Biden staying in, you don’t talk about what you should do if he steps aside.

So at this point, if no one is even willing to talk — or is “unable” — one has to think that there’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes regarding how to go around Biden or convince him to get out.
