Less than a week after trying to get attention by filing articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) insinuated that former President Donald Trump is a fascist.

This, was after a gunman tried to assassinate him. Yet, aren’t these the same people who constantly clutch their pearls about incendiary rhetoric?
Ocasio-Cortez wrote a post on X in response to a post from CNN anchor Jake Tapper who referenced an article in which a senior House Democrat said he was “resigned” to another Trump presidency.
“If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism,” Ocasio-Cortez replied.
Yet, AOC was one of the loudest Democrats feigning outrage and whining about right-wing rhetoric that supposedly led to the riot at the Jan. 6 riot. She actually accused Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) of almost having her murdered because he disputed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Now, the day after a nutjob shot Trump, she is accusing him of being a fascist, a word she probably can’t even spell.
What is interesting is that this is not the first time AOC has used the same type of rhetoric for which she condemns Republicans, as one user pointed out.

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump has prompted renewed discussions about political rhetoric in America and the role it plays in inspiring violence. The shooter’s motives and political affiliation have not yet been established.
Nevertheless, there have been calls from prominent figures on both sides to cool down the rhetoric. Trump himself is expected to take a more unifying tone during the Republican National Convention.
Yet, it appears the gravity of the shooting has still been lost on many – especially folks on the left who are pretending the attempted assassination was staged and those who wish the shooter would have killed the former president. Apparently, the shooting didn’t affect AOC enough to prompt her to reconsider pretending everyone she doesn’t like is a fascist.
Indeed, it seems that many of those who are claiming that words are violence don’t actually mean what they say. Unfortunately, even the attempted assassination of a former president and current presidential candidate isn’t enough to motivate some of our nation’s “leaders” to engage in a more productive way to get their points across.
