Attorney General Liz Murrill is the latest statewide elected official to visit the Texas/Mexico border.

On Monday, Murrill went to Eagle Pass, Texas, as a show of support for Texas officials who continue their efforts to stymie illegal immigration at the border.Currently, members of the Louisiana National Guard are taking part in Operation Lone Star, assisting Texas law enforcement and National Guardsmen in their efforts to keep undocumented immigrants and illegal drugs from crossing into the United States.

During her time in Texas, Murrill met with the members of the Louisiana National Guard currently on duty in Operation Lone Star.

“It was such a privilege to share a meal and spend time with our National Guard women and men assisting Texas at the border in Eagle Pass,” Murrill said in a statement. “I thanked them for their service to our State, to Texas, and to our country. I pray for their safe return home soon.”

Murrill’s visit comes one month after Governor Jeff Landry visited the border with Republican members of the state legislature.
