AZLE, Texas — Azle High School teacher and coach Carlos Font, 37, was arrested on Thursday after a former student reported to police that they had an improper relationship with him several years ago, the school district said.
According to a statement from Azle ISD, Font has worked for the school district for seven years as a teacher and assistant coach in multiple sports, including softball. This was his first year as head coach of the softball team.
The district said that while the investigation is underway, Font will not have any contact with students or return to any district property.
According to jail records, Font was booked in the Tarrant County Jail on a charge of an improper relationship between educator/student. Details about the alleged improper relationship were not immediately clear.
“The district takes allegations of inappropriate behavior between an employee and student seriously, and our top priority is to ensure a safe learning environment for our students,” Azle ISD said in the statement.
Azle ISD asks anyone with concerns or information about inappropriate contact to contact the school district.
