Battle over conservative credentials in North Texas GOP congressional runoff

TEXAS — There’s a congressional runoff race in North Texas where the two Republicans are clashing over who’s the truer conservative. It’s the district where Fort Worth Rep. Kay Granger is not seeking reelection.

State Rep. Craig Goldman has an advantage in campaign cash and high-profile endorsements. Fort Worth businessman John O’Shea says he’s raised a “grassroots army” of volunteers. Both say they want to secure the border, cut federal spending and protect Second Amendment rights.

O’Shea said in an interview on Capital Tonight he differs from Goldman in that he brings a new perspective and criticized Goldman’s record.

“I’m the America’s first outsider and he’s part of the Republican establishment that I feel has betrayed the grassroots voters who elected a Republican state House,” O’Shea said.

O’Shea’s criticized Goldman for voting to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton. Goldman stood by his vote and said it wasn’t a vote to convict but to move the process forward to a Senate trial.

We’ve reached out to Goldman for an interview but have not heard back. You can watch our full interview with O’Shea by clicking the link above.
