On Friday, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office said Deshayon Maurice Knight was booked into the Houston County Jail on Thursday on a capital murder charge in connection with White’s death.

The sheriff’s office said deputies conducted a welfare check on White on June 4, but no one was home and his vehicle wasn’t on the property either. The next day, a family member filed a missing person report. That person said she hadn’t heard from White since May 17.

White’s vehicle was found on June 10 and processed for evidence. During the investigation, the sheriff’s office said sufficient evidence was found to obtain a warrant for Knight’s arrest.
