A boil water notice has been issued for the City of Georgetown in neighborhoods near I-35 due to a water main break in the area.
GEORGETOWN, Texas — City officials issued a boil water notice Saturday for several Georgetown neighborhoods near Interstate 35 after a water main break caused low or no water pressure in the area.
The break, which authorities say is likely related to recent flooding, prompted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to require the City of Georgetown to notify affected customers to boil their water before use.
Impacted neighborhoods include North Old Town/North Addition, Parkview Estates, Katy Crossing, Stillwater, Crystal Knoll, Villages of Berry Creek, Golden Oaks, Reatta Trails, Country Club and Rivery.
Residents are advised to bring water to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or washing hands. Children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to harmful bacteria, officials said.
The city will notify customers when the water is safe for consumption and the boil water notice is lifted. Updates are available on the City of Georgetown website. Customers experiencing outages not shown on the city’s water outage map are asked to call 512-930-3640.
