Border Patrol discovers 20 illegal immigrants concealed in train car, second such incident in week’s time

   

LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Laredo Sector discovered 20 illegal immigrants concealed in a train car, marking the second such discovery in a week.

On July 12, 2024, a Cotulla Border Patrol Canine (K9) alerted agents to the presence of 20 non-citizens hidden aboard a Union Pacific train (autorack). All individuals were arrested and transported to the Cotulla Border Patrol Station for further processing, according to a press release from the U.S. Border Patrol.

In a separate incident on July 9, 2024, Laredo Sector agents found 23 illegal immigrants concealed in another autorack train car. Agents assigned to the Cotulla Station safely extracted the individuals who were attempting to stow away on a Union Pacific train, stated the press release.
