The Associated Press, citing multiple Russian news agencies, is reporting that former USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev has died.
The Tass, RIA Novosti and Interfax agencies cited the Central Clinical Hospital.
Gorbachev’s office said earlier that he was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Gorbachev was the eighth and final leader of the USSR and received the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the Cold War (as a result of Ronald Reagan out-strategizing the Russians).
My colleagues will undoubtedly be sharing their thoughts on Gorbachev’s passing and his significance on the world stage on RedState’s front page in the coming hours, which are likely to be much more positive than those shared within Russia.
