BREAKING: Missing persons case leads to arrest in Texas murder investigation, human remains discovered

   

BUFFALO, Texas — Human remains discovered in Buffalo, Texas, have led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with a murder investigation, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. The remains were found during a search on October 22, 2024, and have been sent for forensic examination.

The investigation began after a report of a missing person and child, last seen in July 2022, was filed on June 19, 2024. Both were entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing persons. Following the discovery of the remains, authorities apprehended Michael Dean Davis, Jr. on November 12, 2024, in Laredo. Davis is charged with murder and is being held at the Webb County Jail on a $3,000,000 bond.

The arrest and recovery efforts involved multiple agencies, including the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County District Attorney’s Office, US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force-Waco, US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force – Laredo Division, Laredo Police Department and their SWAT team, US Postal Inspection Service, Webb County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Department of Public Safety- Texas Rangers Division.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are being released at this time. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, stated the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
