BREAKING NEWS: Blake Downs sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder of Coewin Boerm

   

PORT LAVACA, Texas – Today a Calhoun County jury sentenced Blake Downs to 30 years in prison for the shooting death of Coewin Boerm.

Jury selection began Monday. A jury found Downs guilty on Tuesday after deliberating for three hours.

Blake Downs shot and killed 19-year-old Coewin Boerm at Downs’ home on Holloman Road in Port Lavaca on April 9, 2022.

The shooting happened in an out building or garage area. One family member was inside the home asleep at the time of the fatal shooting.

Blake Downs will become eligible for parole after serving 15 years of his 30 year sentence.

CALHOUN COUNTY, Texas – The murder trial for Blake Downs begins Monday morning in Calhoun County.
