KILLEEN, Texas — A male suspect is deceased after driving a black pickup truck through the JCPenney south entr ance at the Killeen Mall, injuring five people, according to the Killeen Police Department.
The incident followed a pursuit initiated by a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper on I-14.
The injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, and the threat was neutralized inside the mall by several officers, police say.
Authorities confirmed that this was not an active shooter situation. The Texas Rangers will lead the investigation, with DPS as the primary agency.
The area remains secure, and citizens are urged to avoid the Killeen Mall while first responders continue their investigation.
