UPDATE: The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) Board of Trustees unanimously voted Sheila Collazo as the new superintendent for VISD.
She will officially start on Dec. 2.
VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) Board of Trustees is set to meet at 6 p.m. to discuss and vote on the employment of a superintendent and approve the contract.
On Oct. 18, the VISD Board of Trustees named Sheila Collazo as the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Once a finalist is selected the state requires a 21-day waiting period before the finalist is offered a contract.
She is currently deputy superintendent at Somerset ISD where she’s been for the past eight years. Collazo has a Bachelor’s and Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University Kingsville.
The VISD has been searching for a new superintendent since Dr. Quintin Sheperd resigned in April earlier this year. Deputy Superintendent Randy Meyer was appointed to serve as acting superintendent.
“Ms. Collazo has a proven and successful track record as an educator and is passionate about student success. She strongly believes in public education and high standards for students,” the VISD released on Oct. 18.
