Buckets coming soon

Though basketball doesn’t start for a few more months, the non-conference slate of games for Texas A&M women’s basketball has been announced on Monday, Aug. 19. With coach Joni Taylor at the helm, the 12th Man has a reason to be excited for the upcoming season.

Taylor has gotten A&M back on track, guiding the Aggies into the NCAA tournament as well as completing its first season above .500 since the 2020-21 season. She will also bring her summer experience into the upcoming season, coming fresh off an Olympic gold medal as an assistant coach for the United States Women’s National Basketball Team.

The non-conference slate will serve as a good tune-up for A&M as they look to make deeper runs into both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments. They will play against three Power 4 teams as well as four opponents that are battle-tested with NCAA Tournament experience from last year.

Opening up the non-conference schedule, the Maroon and White will host three straight games on Nov. 4, 7 and 10. They open up with a familiar foe in A&M-Corpus Christi, then face off against UTSA and Western Michigan. A&M’s first away game takes them to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers on Nov. 15 before coming back to Reed Arena two days later to welcome Northwestern State.

The Aggies go to Paradise Island in the Bahamas to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament against TBA teams from Nov. 23-25. Following the trip, the Maroon and White comes back to Aggieland and finishes off its non-conference games against the likes of Syracuse, Kansas State, Texas Southern and Mississippi Valley State.
