LOUISIANA, USA — An East Texas man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Louisiana on Saturday afternoon.
Louisiana State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Hwy. 143 near New Wall Lake Road that occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Nov. 30. Johnnie Lott. Jr, 71, of Carthage, was killed in the crash.
An investigation into the incident found that Lott was driving north on Louisiana Hwy. 143 in a 2015 Toyota Avalon when, for reasons unknown, he traveled off the right side of the road and overturned his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police do not suspect Lott was impaired during the crash, but have ordered routine toxicology samples to be collected and analyzed.
“Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle,” Louisiana State Police spokesperson Ryan Davis said. “Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Follow all traffic laws and ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.”
Lott’s death remains under investigation.
