Edinburg, TX— In remembrance of the sacrifices made by first responders in New York City on September 11, 2001, the City of Edinburg is set to host the 4th Annual 9/11 Patriot Day of Remembrance 5K Memorial Run/Walk on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The event, held in honor of the heroes who gave their lives on that tragic day in U.S. history, will begin and end at Fire Station 1. The race will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by an Honorary Walk at 9:11 a.m. at the same location. The walk, free of charge, will be 911 steps around Edinburg City Hall.
Registration for the 5K is open now through September 5 at www.ActiveEdinburg.com with a fee of $15 per person. The community is encouraged to pay their respects to the brave men and women who lost their lives alongside city staff.
Packet pickup will be held on Friday, September 6, at the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department (315 Mark S. Pena Drive) between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and on race day at Fire Station 1 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. For more information, please call (956) 381-5631.
