Edinburg, TX—Texas Folklife is thrilled to announce the Back-to-School Big Squeeze Showcase Finale,hosted in the four-time All-America City of Edinburg, Texas. This event promises a spectacular end to summer.
Headlining the finale is none other than three-time Grammy Award winner Sunny Sauceda and his amazing band, delivering a performance sure to captivate audiences of all ages. The event will showcase talented students from across the state and will feature various Texas folk music categories including Conjunto, Polka, Zydeco, and Tejano.
As part of the celebration, Texas Folklife and the City of Edinburg will host a special meet and greet with the esteemed team from the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Their presence will provide an enriching opportunity for attendees to connect with the rich heritage of Conjunto music, a cornerstone of Texas culture.
The evening will be guided by the celebrated Tex-Mex, Tejano, and Country artist Veronique Medrano, who will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Veronique’s dynamic presence and deep-rooted passion for Texan music traditions will ensure a lively and engaging event.
“This event is a celebration of our cultural heritage, our community, and the incredible talent that thrives in Texas,” said Elisha Oliver, Executive Director of Texas Folklife. “We are excited to bring together such remarkable artists and cultural icons for a night that promises to be as educational as it is entertaining.”
The Back-to-School Big Squeeze Finale is part of Texas Folklife’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting the diverse cultural traditions of Texas. This event celebrates music and pays tribute to the community and the stories that shape the area’s identity. It aligns with Edinburg’s Music Friendly Initiative and highlights established and aspiring musicians.
