City of Trinity reaches settlement with former police officer who accused Trinity PD of misconduct

Davis reported to the Texas Rangers and Trinity city officials of unlawful activities within the Trinity Police Department in August 2024.

TRINITY, Texas — The City of Trinity has reached a settlement with a former police officer who accused the Trinity Police Department of misconduct.

Hightower, Franklin and James, PLLC, the firm representing former police officer Brittany Davis, announced they reached a settlement in Davis’ civil claims against the city and former Trinity police chief. It was not made clear what the terms of the settlement were in HFJ’s announcement.

“Officer Davis’ courageous decision to come forward and speak up brought about a change in Trinity, Texas,” HFJ partner Tanner Franklin said. “That is never an easy decision for a law enforcement officer to make and too often these things are simply swept under the rug. Thanks to Officer Davis, that did not happen in Trinity.”

Davis reported to the Texas Rangers and Trinity city officials of unlawful activities within the Trinity Police Department in August 2024. Following her report, other officers came forth alleging other instances of misconduct in Davis’ support. On Oct. 9, the city accepted TPD Chief Kee’s resignation and terminated their city manager, Tim King.
