CLOSURES: San Antonio-area schools and universities cancel classes due to wintry weather

  

SAN ANTONIO – School districts in Bexar County and surrounding areas have canceled classes on Tuesday, Jan. 21 due to forecasted wintry weather.

Below is a list of school districts that are canceling or delaying classes.

Public school districts

  • Alamo Heights ISD: All campuses and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21. All athletic and extracurricular activities have also been canceled.
  • Bandera ISD: School will be canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Boerne ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Extracurricular activities and after-school activities are also canceled. The BISD regular January board meeting for Tuesday will be postponed until Monday, Jan. 27.
  • Carrizo Springs ISD: All campuses and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. After-school and UIL events have also been canceled. A bad weather make-up day is scheduled for April 21.
  • Comal ISD: All campuses and departments will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Comfort ISD: Comfort ISD will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Cotulla ISD: All classes have been canceled on Jan. 21.
  • Crystal City ISD: All classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Classes will resume Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 9 a.m. Buses will operate on a one-hour delayed schedule. The staff development day scheduled for Feb. 20 will now be a full instructional day for both staff and students.
  • Devine ISD: All classes and related activities have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • D’Hanis ISD: Schools will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Dilley ISD: Classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Eagle Pass ISD: All classes have been canceled on Jan. 21.
  • East Central ISD: East Central ISD will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Falls City ISD: All schools in the district will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21, due to inclement weather.
  • Floresville ISD: All campuses and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Fort Sam Houston ISD: All campuses and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Goliad ISD: All classes have been canceled on Jan. 21.
  • Gonzales ISD: Classes across the district are canceled Tuesday and delayed two hours on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the district said on Facebook.
  • Harlandale ISD: All classes have been canceled and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. All after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday will be postponed.
  • Hondo ISD: Classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Jourdanton ISD: All classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21. A bad weather make-up day is tentatively scheduled for April 21.
  • Judson ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. All after-school events and activities will be canceled or rescheduled.
  • Kenedy ISD: All schools are closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, due to severe weather conditions.
  • La Vernia ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Extracurricular activities have also been canceled.
  • Medina Valley ISD: Campuses and district offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Natalia ISD: All classes, extracurricular activities and events will be canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • New Braunfels ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Extracurricular events have also been canceled.
  • North East ISD: All NEISD schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Extracurricular events, including the consolidation community meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., have been canceled.
  • Nixon-Smiley CISD: The district will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, including the DAEP and PACE campuses. All school-related activities have also been canceled.
  • Northside ISD: All classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Pearsall ISD: All classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21. School is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m.
  • Pleasanton ISD: All Pleasanton ISD schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. All before and after-school activities have also been canceled. Due to the closure, the Feb. 17 holiday will now be a regular school day.
  • Poth ISD: All classes have been canceled on Jan. 21.
  • Randolph Field ISD: Classes and extracurricular activities have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Sabinal ISD: Classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21. There will be a delayed start on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. There is an early release on Thursday, Jan. 23 and a student holiday on Friday, Jan. 24.
  • San Antonio ISD: All SAISD schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • San Marcos CISD: All campuses and offices will be closed on Jan. 21. The closure affects all after-school/UIL events.
  • Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD: All schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21. All games and activities will also be canceled or rescheduled.
  • Seguin ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Tuesday’s board meeting will be postponed to Thursday, Jan. 23.
  • Somerset ISD: All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • South San Antonio ISD: All campuses will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Southside ISD: All classes have been canceled Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Southwest ISD: All campuses will be closed and related activities canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Stockdale ISD: All classes and activities have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Uvalde CISD: All school activities will end by 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. A decision to delay or cancel classes on Jan. 21 will be made by 4 p.m. on Jan. 20.
  • Yorktown ISD: The district said Monday its decision to close all schools on Jan. 21 was made to allow families and staff to make necessary arrangements, a district Facebook post said.

Charter schools

  • Essence Preparatory Public School: The Essence Preparatory campus and office will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • George Gervin Academy: All schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Great Hearts San Antonio: Campuses will be closed and all activities canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • IDEA Schools: All IDEA San Antonio schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Lighthouse Public Schools: Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Classes will resume Wednesday.
  • New Frontiers Public Schools: All campuses will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Parent/Child Incorporated Head Start/Early Head Start Early Learning Center: All centers and administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Pre-K 4 SA and Gardendale Early Learning Program: All Pre-K 4 SA Centers and the Gardendale Early Learning Program will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Private Schools

  • Concordia Lutheran School and Child Care Center: The school and child care center will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21. All extracurricular activities have also been canceled.
  • Cornerstone Christian Schools: All classes and activities have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Keystone School: Keystone School will close on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • San Antonio Academy: All classes, after-school activities and games have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • San Marcos Academy: All classes have been canceled on Jan. 21.
  • Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School & Child Care: The school will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Sunshine Cottage: Classes have been canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
  • Winston School San Antonio: The Winston School will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Universities and colleges

As of Monday afternoon, some colleges and universities — such as the University of the Incarnate Word, Trinity University, Our Lady of the Lake University and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio — have not yet made their Tuesday plans public.
