Schoolmates wore spider man shirts to honor five-year-old Exodus Crockett, who died on Monday.
GRANBURY, Texas — The Granbury community held a candlelight vigil to honor a five-year-old Pre-K student Thursday night.
More than 100 neighbors, schoolmates and firefighters attended the vigil held for Exodus Crockett, a student at Emma Roberson Learning Academy who died after he was struck by a Granbury ISD school bus on Monday.
Granbury ISD students wore red and blue in honor of Crockett, who loved Spider-Man.
During the vigil, Beau Mills, the family’s pastor at StoneWater Church said the young boy was full of joy, and laughter and adored by his teachers and classmates. Mills said Crockett’s dad wants his son to be remembered for his joy.
“I talked with Jacob this whole week. He wants me to relay to everybody just how joyful Exodus was in everything he did,” Mills said. “He would take him places, and that little boy would run up to everyone he saw… and say ‘Daddy, they’re my best friends now.'”
Mills described Crockett’s father, Jacob Crockett, as a man of faith who is coping with the loss through his faith. According to Mills, the young boy’s mother recently passed away after a battle with cancer. Crockett was the couple’s only son, Mills said. According to Crockett’s obituary, he leaves behind a sister.
Services for Crockett will be held on Friday.
Donations are being accepted in the Crockett family name at First National Bank of Granbury, and a meal train for the family is organized online.
