FORECAST DETAILS

SEASONABLE START 2025

Happy New Year!

After a beautiful Wednesday afternoon with plenty of sunshine and cooler air, temperatures will fall into and through the 50s for evening plans under mostly clear skies.

We’ll start off Thursday on a chilly note, with lows in the mid-40s expected in San Antonio. Some peeks of sunshine expected into the afternoon as high temperatures climb into the low-60s. A stray shower can’t completely be ruled out, but the vast majority of the area stays dry with chances only at 10%.

Highs in the low 60s expected Thursday after a chilly morning.

More of the same is generally expected Friday, but a touch of patchy fog will be possible in the morning with temperatures slightly warmer, especially into Saturday.

COLDER AIR ARRIVES NEXT WEEK

Temperatures quickly warm into the 70s by Sunday before our next cold front arrives later in the day. Colder air will filter in throughout the day Monday, with the coldest air likely settling in Tuesday through Thursday.

As of right now, expected mornings to drop to near-freezing levels during that timeframe in San Antonio, but an extended period below-freezing is NOT expected as highs warm above freezing in the afternoons.

The big wild card, however, is a slight chance of wintry precipitation sometime between January 8th and 9th. That’s only if conditions come together in an exact way, and those forecasts are highly unreliable this far out. We’ll get a much better picture on what this ultimately looks like for South Central Texas by the end of the upcoming weekend and especially early next week.

Cold air arrives next week.

Bottom line: Don’t equate this to February 2021, and don’t run to the grocery store in a panic. It’s still a long term forecast with a high degree of uncertainty, so be sure to check back frequently for updates.

Extended Forecast for San Antonio as of 1/1/25.
