Cowtown Marathon Results: Three North Texans win first place in marathon, half marathon

 

Jarrett Kirk, 22, of Flower Mound came in first in the marathon, according to unofficial results.

FORT WORTH, Texas — At the 47th running of the Cowtown Marathon, North Texans were represented well among the overall winners, according to marathon organizers. 

Over 26,000 people registered for the Cowtown Marathon this year, representing 50 states and 14 countries, according to a press release from the Cowtown Marathon. Runners participated in the ultra marathon, marathon, half marathon, 10K, adults 5K and kids 5K races. 

Here are the unofficial results of the Cowtown Marathon: 

Marathon

According to unofficial results, Jarrett Kirk, 22, of Flower Mound took first place in the 26.2 mile race. Kirk ran the marathon in two hours and 26 minutes. He previously ran cross country for Princeton University and attended high school in Flower Mound. 

Second and third place went to Grant Autry, 26, of Southlake and Brent Woodle, 40, of Allen, according to unofficial results. 

The first woman to finish in the Cowtown Marathon was Lauren Kelly, 34, of Philadelphia completed the race in about two hours and 53 minutes, according to unofficial results. Second place went to Sadie Smith, 46, of Kirkwood, Mo. and third place went to Jodi Jordan, 40, of Dallas. 

Half marathon

Maxwell Murphy, 24, of Fort Worth ran the fastest half marathon time of about one hour and nine minutes, according to unofficial results. Murphy was previously a track and field athlete for Stephen F Austin University. He attended Timber Creek High School. Preston Newsome, 31, of Brooklyn, finished second and Sam Nofzinger, 27, of Fort Worth, finished third. 

The first woman to finish was also a North Texan. Jennifer Pope, 38, of Plano came in first. She previously competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon. She beat Caitlin Keen, 32, of Fort Worth and Ashley Montgomery, 29, of New York, according to unofficial results. 

Ultra marathon

Brent Williams, 32, of Aledo, finished first in the 31.1-mile ultra marathon race, according to unofficial results. He crossed the finish line in three hours and 19 minutes. Second and third place went to Nathan Sicher, 43, of Joplin, Mo. and Joshua Gordon, 37, of Weatherford.

The No. 1 woman in the ultra-marathon distance was Kristen Beiza, 42, Kannapolis, N.C. who finished in four hours and four minutes, according to unofficial results. Diana Filtz, 35 of Benbrook and Emily Franks, 38, of Bentonville Ark. came in third.

10k and 5k races 

The top finishers in the 10 and 5k races were North Texas residents, according to unofficial results. 

In the 10K, a woman was the top finisher, beating the second-fastest runner by two one-hundredths of a second, according to unofficial results. Rena Elmer, 42, of Flower Mound, finished her race in 34 minutes, 38.04 seconds. The next fastest runner and the top male in the race, Austin Del Rosso, 29, of River Oaks, finished in 34 minutes, 38.06 seconds. 

Besides the photo finish, Dustin Wernicke, 38, of Grapevine came second and Keith Kotar, 34, of Aledo came third. In the women’s division, Amanda Moro, 20, of Fort Worth came second and Ariana Allen, 33, of Roanoke came third. 

In the 5k, Christopher Shirk, 28, of Arlington came first with a time of 17 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Grayson Birka, 29, of Arlington and Jaime Gonzalez, 28, of Lubbock.

Esperanza Lopez, 34, of Fort Worth came first in the women’s division with a time of 18 minutes and ten seconds followed by Kira Gupta-Baltazar, 22, of Ontario, Canada and Maddie Perkins, 22, of Fort Worth

Kollin Green, 14 of Arlington and Hillary Fernandez, 10, won the kids 5k, according to unofficial results.
