Crews to start construction on North St. Mary’s Street police substation in December

SAN ANTONIO – District 1 residents got a final look at the future North St. Mary’s Police Substation renderings on Monday before construction starts this December.

San Antonio voters approved the construction of the substation on the corner of North St. Marys and Myrtle as part of the 2017 to 2022 bond.

The building of the substation comes at a time when the community in that area is fighting crime, parking, and noise complaints.

“The presence of that building being there will wake up the people going to The Strip,” said resident Lynn Knapik.

The substation is expected to have between eight to 12 police officers per shift. There will also be a couple of community rooms to host meetings or be used as warming or cooling centers.

District 1 residents will see the opening of the North St. Mary’s Street Police Substation in January 2024.
