A well-known Dallas developer is among those who have lost homes as fires rage in California.
DALLAS — A Dallas real estate mogul is among the thousands of people whose homes have been destroyed in the California wildfires.
A spokesperson for Mehrdad Moayedi, CEO of North Texas-based Centurion American Development Group, confirmed to WFAA that a Malibu home that’d he’d bought in 2020 was destroyed in the fires.
Moayedi’s spokesperson said no one was in the home at the time, but many of his neighbors were forced to evacuate.
“Unfortunately that also means that countless personal possessions were unable to be saved before the wildfires ravaged the area,” Moayedi said in a statement. “This is a community rich in personal connections and it is very painful to consider the impact this devastating fire will have on this amazing community of neighbors and friends. It is hard to even imagine what will be involved in rebuilding this community, not just homes and businesses but lives and friendships. He has been humbled by the selfless and tireless actions of the area first responders as they’ve tried to preserve life and property when possible.”
The California wildfires have destroyed thousands of homes, including those of celebrities like Billy Crystal, Jeff Bridges, Paris Hilton and others, as Santa Ana winds continue to fan the flames.
Moayedi’s 13,500-square-foot home was originally built in 1989 and Moayedi remodeled it in 2021 shortly after he bought it.
“Moayedi worked to preserve as much of the history of this home as possible to respect the memories of its original owners,” the statement continued.
Moayedi’s Centurion American Development Group has been involved with a variety of residential and commercial projects in North Texas, including the historic Statler Hotel in Dallas.
