DALLAS — Dallas fire crews responded to a structure fire at recycling facility on Saturday morning which left a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said units were assigned to a 911 call for the fire at approximately 9:13 a.m. Saturday, which was burning at CMC Recycling, located at 1729 N. Westmoreland Rd. When firefighters got to the scene, they found a large plume of black smoke coming from a pile of scrap metal outside of the actual structure, DFR said.

Despite there being surrounding structures, DFR crews were able to contain the fire to the pile, the department added.

The fire had been knocked down significantly within a few hours, but they were still working as of 11 a.m. to extinguish it completely, officials told WFAA.

There have been no injuries reported related to the fire, DFR said, and there is no information on the cause.
