Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum offers free admission for students ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The Museum is offering free entry for students this weekend to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

DALLAS — International Holocaust Remembrance Day is on Monday, Jan. 27 and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum is making reflection and education on the tragedy more accessible for students this weekend.

The Museum said it will be opening up its doors for free to all guests under 18 or students with a valid ID on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26.

According to the museum, this year’s commemoration will feature a screening of “Defiant Requiem,” which is a documentary that tells the story of a group of Jewish prisoners who found hope and resilience through the power of music.

In addition, the museum said Holocaust historian Alexandra Zapruder will be in attendance to share insights on the connection between art and the human spirit in the face of adversity.

“International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a vital moment to honor the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust and reflect on its lessons to build a more just and compassionate future,” Dallas Holocaust Museum CEO Mary Pat Higgins said. “On this 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we are inviting students to our Museum to engage with this history. We hope to spark conversations between generations, fostering understanding and dialogue about this significant historical event, especially amongst our youth who may be learning about this horrific event for the first time. Together, we can inspire the next generation to recognize the power of resilience and humanity, even in the face of unimaginable tragedy.”

The commemoration event has reached its capacity for registrations, however, those who want to tour the museum can still reserve a ticket here.
