Dallas ISD set to consider $13 million purchase of land downtown for new public school campus

The district tells WFAA that the new campus would house three existing DISD programs if approved and constructed.

DALLAS — The Dallas Independent School District is considering spending more than $13 million in bond money to purchase three lots in downtown Dallas adjacent to existing district property.

The lots include:

  • 904 South Ervay Street
  • 909 North Saint Paul Street
  • 913 South Saint Paul Street

The district tells WFAA that if approved, a new campus would house three existing programs: Downtown Montessori, IDEA and CityLab.

In the resolution that will be considered by the DISD Board of Trustees on Thursday, April 2024, “It was determined that there is a public necessity for, and the public welfare will be served by the acquisition.”

In November 2020, voters approved a bond including $3.2 billion for repairs and upgrades. District leaders said it will allow for a more efficient use of space, potentially housing three programs in one centralized location, adding that for years families have expressed a desire to see a downtown campus.

If approved, the proposal will go back to the DISD bond and construction teams for planning and next steps.
