Dallas man killed after going off bridge while driving in East Texas

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

MABANK, Texas — A Dallas man was killed after crashing his vehicle and submerging in water while driving in East Texas this weekend.

Bradley Michael Leonard, 68, was driving east on U.S. Highway 175 in the Mabank area on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. when his vehicle left the road and crashed into a bridge embankment. Witnesses said the vehicle then became submerged underwater, according to the Mabank Police Department.

Mabank police officers tried to get Leonard out of the vehicle, but they realized a rescue was not likely due to the vehicle’s position in the water and damage from the crash. Some time later, the vehicle was pulled from the water, and they found a man, who was identified as Leonard.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
