Dallas police shooting: 1 killed, several injured in Deep Ellum shooting overnight, police say

 

Dallas police were involved in a shooting that killed one person and injured several others, the department said in a press release.

DALLAS — One person died in a shooting involving Dallas police Saturday, officials said. 

Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2:25 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot under a bridge at Canton Street and South Good Latimer Expressway, Dallas Police said in a press release. 

When police arrived, they found multiple people shot in the parking lot, the release states. Police confronted an individual with a gun and one officer fired their weapon, officials said. 

Police said they started life-saving measures and the injured people were taken to hospitals, the release states. 

One person died, but police did not clarify whether the person who died was the suspect or one of the victims.  

Multiple weapons were recovered from the scene and no officers were injured in the altercation, police said. 

The Office of Community Police Oversight was notified of the incident and the Dallas County District Attorney’s office will conduct its own investigation, police said. The shooting is under investigation.
