A Dallas tire shop employee has been arrested on a murder charge after allegedly fatally shooting the manager of the shop, officials said.
DALLAS — A Dallas tire shop employee allegedly shot and killed the manager of the shop as the manager worked behind the shop’s counter this week, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Marlon Lawrence, 21, a tire technician at RAW Wheels and Tires in the 4000 block of Camp Wisdom Road in southern Dallas, allegedly shot Billy Brightman, 42, in the back shortly after 1 p.m. Dec. 1 as Brightman worked behind the counter, according to the affidavit.
Lawrence then shot Brightman again in the face and an employee called 911 after hearing the gunshots, the affidavit states.
Dallas Fire-Rescue took Brightman to a local hospital where he was declared dead, per the affidavit.
Lawrence admitted to shooting Brightman in an interview with police and said he then put the handgun in his parked vehicle, according to the affidavit.
No other details regarding the motive of the shooting were immediately available.
Lawrence was booked into the Dallas County Jail Dec. 1 on a murder charge, according to jail records.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
