The Dallas Wings also hold the top pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft, where it is expected they’ll select UConn’s Paige Bueckers, assuming she declares for the draft.
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings are finalizing a deal to acquire Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou and Winsidr’s Rachel Galligan.
The deal will reportedly bring Carrington and the Sun’s No. 12 overall pick to Dallas, while sending out guard Jacy Sheldon and the Wings’ No. 8 pick. WFAA has reached out to the Dallas Wings for comment about the reported trade.
The news comes as Dallas continues to retool its roster, as they’ve traded Satou Sabally in a three-team deal and lost Natasha Howard to free agency. In exchange for Sabally, the Dallas Wings received Ty Harris and Kiki Herbert Harrigan from the Mercury as well as NaLyssa Smith and the No. 8 overall draft pick from the Indiana Fever. That No. 8 overall pick was then used in the trade for Carrington.
Dallas also holds the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft after winning the lottery, where it is expected they’ll select UConn star Paige Bueckers, assuming she declares for the draft after this college basketball season.
The Wings went 9-31 last season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
