Dallas Wings win No. 1 pick in WNBA Draft Lottery and a chance to snag Paige Bueckers

The Dallas Wings have only ever drafted first once in franchise history.

NEW YORK — It feels good to be No. 1, and the Dallas Wings are now riding that high.

Sunday evening, the Wings won the first pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft. With a 22.7% chance, the Wings beat out the Los Angeles Sparks, who had a 44% chance to win the top spot.

In what’s anticipated to be a strong draft, the projected first pick, UConn star Paige Bueckers, stands out.

Bueckers has been closely watched by scouts since her high school days. Now in her fifth year with the Huskies, she looks league-ready.

The Dallas Wings have only drafted first once in franchise history. That was in 2021, when the team picked Charli Collier, who is now out of the league.

Both No. 1 picks from the last two seasons—Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston—went on to win Rookie of the Year.
